About Keaton

Dr. Keaton entered into the United States Air Force in 2011. He received his MD from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center – Shreveport in Shreveport, LA. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Keaton moved to Mississippi in 2018 and served as Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine residency at Keesler Medical Center for two years prior to separating from the Air Force and taking his current position as a Hospitalist at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS.

About Dr. Kotti

Dr. George Kotti is a 2003 graduate of the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland.  He went on to complete a residency and fellowship at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.  Following graduation he was transferred to Keesler Medical Center in Mississippi where he served as teaching faculty for the Keesler Internal Medicine residency until he joined Memorial Hospital Gulfport as full time Intensivist in 2016.  His time at Keesler included medical directorships of the ICU, pulmonary clinic and sleep lab, and he developed expertise in the safe and expeditious transport of critically ill and wounded service members around the world.  Dr Kotti has a passion for teaching, airplanes and critical care medicine.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Sleep Medicine and Critical Care Medicine, and currently serves as a member of the core faculty for the Internal Medicine residency at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.

About Lakeshia Smith

Lakeshia Smith is the Medical Student & Advanced Learner Coordinator for Graduate Medical Education as well as the Core Site Specialist for Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM)- South Region for Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, where she oversees and assist all Medical Students, NP’s, PA’s, external residents and CRNA rotations. With over 16 years of experience in Higher Education and 4 years of experience in undergraduate/graduate medical course work, Lakeshia has played a tremendous role at Memorial on improving the growth of our student population, medical rotations and is passionate about providing more assistance within our community of colleges, universities, medical facilities and abroad. Lakeshia holds a master’s degree, several certifications and a diploma in Medical Unit Coordinating & Health Information Technology.

About Dr. Smith

Dr. Benjamin Smith was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi, and has resided on the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 2010.  He is a summa cum laude graduate of Mississippi State University and then received his MD degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2010.  Dr. Smith joined the United States Air Force in 2006 and did his residency in internal medicine at Keesler Air Force Base.  After completing residency in 2013, he remained at Keesler as part of the teaching faculty in the Internal Medicine Clinic and served as the Outpatient Medical Director. Following 7 years of active duty service, Dr. Smith transitioned to the Air Force Reserves where he continues to serve.   In 2017, he became a full-time hospitalist for Gulfport Memorial Hospital and was also elected as a Fellow in the American College of Physicians. At Memorial, Dr. Smith serves as the Medical Director of the Utilization Management Committee and Co-Medical Director of the hospitalist group. 

 He is married to Dr. Mandi Smith and they have two children, Addison and Paxton.
