About Lakeshia Smith

Lakeshia Smith is the Medical Student & Advanced Learner Coordinator for Graduate Medical Education as well as the Core Site Specialist for Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM)- South Region for Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, where she oversees and assist all Medical Students, NP’s, PA’s, external residents and CRNA rotations. With over 16 years of experience in Higher Education and 4 years of experience in undergraduate/graduate medical course work, Lakeshia has played a tremendous role at Memorial on improving the growth of our student population, medical rotations and is passionate about providing more assistance within our community of colleges, universities, medical facilities and abroad. Lakeshia holds a master’s degree, several certifications and a diploma in Medical Unit Coordinating & Health Information Technology.

About Elena Ervin

Elena has worked in the medical field for 11 years and has been a part of the Memorial Health System for almost a year as a Clinical Research Coordinator. Elena spent 9 years as a medical assistant in women’s health before transitioning into clinical research. To pass the time, and what she enjoys most is making delicious food. Elena is driven to help people and to help grow clinical research at Memorial and bring more awareness about research to the public to help patients and better healthcare in the future.

About Dr. Dimitriades

Dimitrios “Jimmy” Dimitriades, MD completed his medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport and completed his family medicine residency at the Carilion Roanoke Family Medicine program via the University of Virginia. This was followed by a year of urgent care and emergency room medicine in rural West Virginia.

Dr. Dimitriades found his permanent home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast working with Memorial Hospital at Gulfport to develop a family medicine practice with an emphasis on pediatric care. He quickly developed an association with Tulane University School of Medicine, mentoring medical students for more than 15 years, later adding teaching DO students through the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine.

About Dr. Latack

Born in Michigan, Dr. Latack entered in the United States Air Force in 1995 where he served for 27 years. He received his MD from the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in nephrology and is a Fellow in the America College of Physicians and American Society of Nephrology. Dr. Latack moved to Mississippi in 2007 and served as Associate Program Director and Program Director for the Internal Medicine residency at Keesler Medical Center for 15 years.

About Dr. Chance

Rickey Chance, DO is excited about his role as associate program director for the Memorial Hospital Family Medicine residency. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy and West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and he completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

During his 30 years as a board-certified family physician, Dr. Chance has been active in several professional organizations and has served in leadership roles in local, state and national organizations related to the practice of medicine.
