Diversity and Inclusion
Our Internal and Family Medicine residency programs foster a culture rooted in inclusivity, mutual respect, and a commitment to excellence in patient-centered care. We prioritize the development of compassionate, culturally competent physicians who can meet the needs of diverse patient populations. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to supporting residents’ personal and professional growth by cultivating an environment that values collaboration, continuous learning, and resilience.
Diversity is a cornerstone of our GME programs, reflected in our commitment to recruiting residents and faculty from varied backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. This diversity enriches our learning community, fostering innovation and empathy in clinical practice. Our programs provide structured opportunities for cultural competence training and emphasize an understanding of the social determinants of health, equipping our residents to deliver equitable care in both urban and rural settings.
By nurturing a diverse and inclusive learning environment, we prepare our residents not only to excel as physicians but also to lead as advocates for health equity within the communities they serve.
A Culture of Diversity and Inclusion
Our mission is to build a program with diversity among its residents and faculty. We have partnerships with our local health departments, FQHC, and school systems. We emphasize the role of social, economic, and cultural factors, throughout our clinical care, community projects, and didactics. Among our roles as family medicine physicians is to serve as community leaders. We recognize the importance of having providers that reflect the diverse patient population for which we care for. We strive to improve the care for our unrepresented minorities by the implementation of our family medicine residency.
Whom do we serve?
Our residency continuity clinic serves a diverse population from all walks of life. Our community health rotation works with the local health departments of Harrison county. Our OBGYN & Pediatric rotations work through an FQHC that is part of the Coastal Family Medicine network.
