Welcome from the Designated Institutional Official
Welcome to the Memorial Hospital Department of Graduate Medical Education, and thank you for considering us for your residency training. We’re glad you are visiting our site to learn more about what we have to offer. Our mission is to provide a strong foundation through a dynamic and safe learning environment for all our medical students, residents and advanced learners. Our faculty, staff and leadership are dedicated to making your experience at Memorial not only rewarding but one that encourages you to stay a while and enjoy our hospitality and all that the Mississippi Gulf Coast has to offer.
We are excited about starting our medical residency program for a number of reasons. Most notably, we are committed to building healthier communities. It’s no secret that Mississippi ranks as one of the unhealthiest states, and we want to address that through providing more high-quality prevention and medical care. Residents who join us at Memorial will have robust rotations with opportunities to train in a culturally and socioeconomically diverse community setting.
What makes training at Memorial Hospital unique?
At Memorial, you will be an active member and leader of the health care team. You will not only train, you will teach. You will be immersed in complex cases and you will be challenged. Our program directors, associate program directors and faculty are dedicated to not only providing strong foundations in medical practice but also developing the art and nuances of communicating with patients, their families and colleagues to improve the healthcare experience.
We are looking for residents who want to be more.
More than an average provider. More than just focused on the medicine. We are looking for residents who want to be leaders. Leaders in quality and patient safety, leaders in advocating for their patients, and leaders who understand how the systems need to work together to provide the best care for our patients.
